The village perhaps owes his name in the tap (kroyno) that existed in the middle of the settlement and in his abundant waters. It is hardly found 5 kilometres from the Myrjna. the delivery it says that as village it existed from 1500 roughly. It was refered in 1361 in documents of M. Layras, called Korwnos. Exists in any case a probability this name it corresponds to settlement Koyroynj of region Ag. Dimitrios.
The Kornos on Ottoman domination was municipality with 2000 residents roughly. From here come a lot of benefactors of island, mainly Agyptians immigrants. More acquaintance was the Odysseus J.
